Primary source: SEC EDGAR
FinZonal's current public-company dataset is built around information collected from the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission's EDGAR system, including company submission records and structured financial facts where available. Source documents can be accessed through the official SEC EDGAR search.
Company identification
Company records are associated with a Central Index Key (CIK), a unique SEC identifier. Display names, ticker symbols, exchanges, addresses, and industry classification details may be drawn from SEC company information and may change over time. A ticker alone is not a permanent unique identifier.
Filing coverage
The filing explorer lists records imported for companies currently tracked by FinZonal. Common forms include annual reports (10-K), quarterly reports (10-Q), current reports (8-K), and ownership or transaction-related forms such as Form 4. Coverage is not a complete mirror of every EDGAR filing.
Financial facts and reporting periods
Structured facts may include taxonomy concepts, units, values, fiscal-year or fiscal-period labels, reporting start/end dates, filing dates, and accession numbers. Annual and quarterly figures are not always directly comparable; some values describe a period of activity while others describe a point-in-time balance. Reported units and accounting definitions matter.
Source dates versus collection dates
- Filed date: the date the SEC record indicates a filing was submitted.
- Report date / period end: the period associated with the filing or financial fact, where supplied.
- Last synced: when FinZonal last recorded a relevant collection or update, where displayed.
These dates are different and should not be treated as interchangeable.
Updates and coverage limitations
FinZonal uses an automated collection process, but successful updates depend on network availability, source availability, parsing, and which companies are scheduled for collection. A scheduled collector does not guarantee that every company or figure is refreshed daily. Some companies or metrics may have no imported data.
Amendments, duplicates, and restatements
Companies may file amendments or restate previously reported figures. Multiple observations for a similar concept can reflect different periods, filings, units, or amendments. Users should inspect filing dates and original documents before choosing which figure to rely on. FinZonal does not promise automatic resolution of every conflicting observation.
Calculations and derived metrics
Any calculated metric should be interpreted using its displayed formula, source concept, period, and unit. For example, a growth rate generally compares like-for-like observations across periods, while a margin compares a relevant profit measure with revenue. Different accounting concepts or missing periods can make a calculation unsuitable. FinZonal should not imply that a calculation is available or verified unless it is implemented and displayed.
Quality controls and corrections
Collection may include validation and deduplication checks, but errors can occur in source filings, extraction, mapping, or presentation. Where a value is material, confirm it against the original SEC filing. To report an issue, provide the company, page URL, value, reporting period, and source document using the Contact page once a contact channel is published.
